Most everyone at work knows that I am pregnant, including the students. It was fun telling my classes before Winter Break. Their responses were so animated. Some of the girls gasped and immediately ask me what name I would choose for the baby-to-be and some of the boys asked how I was feeling. Overall, it was a pretty fun experience. Since coming back to school from break, I have noticed something funny that I will just have to get used to. Whenever I strike up a conversation with a co-worker or student their eyes immediately go to my belly then to my eyes. At first, I was worried. Had I dropped something on myself? Was I walking around with a big stain on my clothes? Then I realized, of course, they are checking to see if I have a bump! The natural progression should be announcement of one’s pregnancy followed by a noticeable bump to confirm the news. Unfortunately, I am thick in the middle but don’t quite have that definitive pregnancy bump yet. Some days it looks like I “popped” then I wake up the next day and look flatter again. David and I are on high bump alert checking to see if it is there everyday. I know that the bump is on its way and it is fun watching others watch for it along with us.
