pigfest 2013

David’s coworker, Andric, invited us this year to his family’s pigfest 2013. It sounded like a pretty awesome time. We were told months in advance that the event would include (but was not limited to) roasted pig, a dunk tank, a swimming pool, enough food to fill all of the 60+ guests invited, music, laughs, and fun times. We waited in anticipation for July 6th to arrive and when it did we made sure to arrive on time as our host informed us that we would not want to miss out on any of the food. The day was quite excellent. Andric and his fiancee, Amanda, have really fun friends and family.  Everyone was so inviting and welcoming.  We found ourselves easily making conversation while swinging in a hammock, while playing basketball or cornhole, or while savoring the smorgasbord of food being served. The dunk tank was definitely a highlight of the party. As riotous family members sat in the hot seat, others formed long lines waiting for their chance to dunk their favorite aunt or uncle. After each successful hit, the party would erupt in laughter! It was clear once we arrived why this party has become the focal moment of the summer for Andric’s family.  It is really just a good time and I was pumped to have been able to come along with David to hang out there. And…they cut the pig with a samurai sword, how awesome is that!?!

  1. Hi, looks like you all had a great day. What a different experience. What I want to know is how was the pig? Looked very tasty. We often have a pig on the spit where I grew up in Far North Queensland. Often had at big celebrations. Always very very tasty.

    • It was very good. The meat was so tender and they passed around some fresh lime to squeeze onto it and it really brightened up the flavor. It was my first time having a pig like this and I was quite impressed.
